Every great beach party has a few essential elements: good food,
good drinks, and people to mingle with. Oh, and the beach, of course! If
you are throwing a beach bash with a few old friends or a group of many
new ones, here are a few tips and tricks to make it the party of the
year.
Food
Food makes people happy, and happy people will be more social and outgoing at a gathering. People gather together over food to get to know each other, make new friends, and network. Having a spread of food of various types will make sure that everyone can snack on something and no one will go hungry on your big night. Keep foods light and easy- no sense stressing over this part of the party when there is fun to be had! Make sure to provide a vegetarian and vegan option just in case.
Drinks
The of-age members of your party may want to get together and imbibe in more adult beverages. Feel free to provide drinks or tell your guests to bring their own; whatever happens, make sure the drinks are beach-appropriate! Fun, fruity, and colorful will fit in great with the party goers amongst the crashing surf, sandy feet and a beautiful sunset over the water.
Supplies
Come prepared! Make sure to know the rules of the beach you are planning your party at- closing times, bonfire and cooking regulations, or open container laws. Before the party make sure you will have enough space for everyone and that the area you want is clean and free of potentially sharp or dangerous items. If you are planning a bonfire remember to bring firewood and a starter to get it going. For food bring disposable plates, silverware and napkins, and plastic cups for drinks. Make sure to also have a trash bag or two within easy reach for cleanup during and after the party. Glass bottles can easily be left and broken, so try to make your containers plastic and carry-away as much as possible. Do not leave the beach a mess!
People
If you want to keep your party small, keep it small. It's your party, plan it exactly how you want it! If you are in the mood to mingle with a bigger group of people than be sure to let your friends know that they are free to bring their friends, spouses, and significant others.
Atmosphere
Beaches are incredibly conducive for relaxation. Take off your shoes, grab a plate and a drink, and go for it! Set up a small radio or portable music player with a beach playlist set up and start dancing. People will let their guard down and soon the place will be filled with smiling, happy people really enjoying themselves.
You will realize that no one has ever planned the perfect party, something can and may go wrong, but in the end you will have your friends, the beach, and a great memory to look back on fondly. Go plan your party and enjoy it!
